Gift Basket Locator - Tracking Your Gifts After Ordering

So you just bought several gift baskets as a corporate "Thank you" for your clients, but now you'd like to know where the gifts are. If your packages have shipped, there are a couple of different ways to track your corporate gifts. In either case, it is important that you have your tracking numbers. A tracking number is a unique series of numbers and letters assigned by the carrier for every box, envelope or package shipped via UPS, Federal Express (FedEx) or DHL. If you sent 10 corporate gift baskets for 10 different clients, you should receive 10 unique tracking numbers. The gift basket retailer, where you purchased the gifts, should be able to provide you with these numbers.

Some online retailers will send you a confirmation email once your gifts have shipped. This email often includes a direct link and instructions for tracking your order. If you receive one of these emails, follow the instructions provided. If not, once you get your tracking number, your first option is to call the delivery carrier directly. Once you provide them with your tracking number(s), they should be able to tell you the status of your package(s). Hold times can be long, however, especially during the holidays when many gift baskets are purchased online. If you are near a computer, the quickest method is to visit the delivery carrier's website directly (UPS: ups. com or FedEx: fedex. com). Select the link provided for tracking and follow the instructions on their website.

- Billing Information Received - this means the label has been printed for your package, but it has not been picked up yet. If several days have passed since the label was printed, you may want to check with the gift basket retailer to make sure the package has shipped or is scheduled to ship soon.

- In Transit - this means your package has been picked up by the carrier and is en-route to the recipient destination

- Out For Delivery - this means your gift is actually on the truck to be delivered. Unless there is a problem, your gift basket should be delivered this day.

- Exception - this means there is a problem with your delivery. The problem, or "exception," could be a delay because of a carrier issue (e.g., package missed, weather delay) or an issue with the address where your gift basket is supposed to be delivered. The most common reason for an exception is that the gift recipient was not home and the local driver decided it was not safe to leave the package without a signature. The second most common reason for an exception is a missing or incorrect apartment number in the address. Always be sure to provide a suite or apartment number when sending your corporate gift baskets. This will prevent any delays in your gifts being delivered. In some cases, an exception will be followed with a "Rescheduled delivery date." This is the revised date your gift will be delivered once the problem has been resolved. If there is no rescheduled date, it likely means the problem has not been resolved and you should contact the carrier or the retailer where you purchased the gift basket immediately to resolve the situation.

- Delivered - this means your gift has been delivered to the recipient address. Note that if a signature was not required and the gift was sent to a residence, the package may have been left in an inconspicuous location such as behind a plant, at a side door, in the garage, etc. For gifts shipped to a residential address, release of the package without a signature is up to the discretion of the local delivery driver. The package may be left, or the delivery driver may leave a note and return the next business day. Deliveries to an apartment usually require a signature.
